Russian Ice Hockey Team Uses Floorball As Training
Check out this video showing the Russian Ice Hockey team, with big name players such as Fedorov and Ovechkin, using Floorball as part of their training for the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. Thanks to the people behind floorballcentral.blogspot.com for bringing this to my attention.

We now have an English synopsis of this news report thanks to Alain Trächslin from Glebe Floorball Club.
The news report describes how the Russian Ice Hockey Team dominated the Olympics for many years in the era of the Soviet Union but the last time it won an Olympic gold medal was in 1992. The team had high hopes for Vancouver because they had brought home gold medals from both the 2008 and 2009 IIHF World Championships. In the hopes of breaking the Olympic “dry spell” the team’s training involves a great amount of variety to maintain the players’ motivation and spirits.
Floorball practice is part of this variety and it helps the team due to it’s similar skill set and style of play whilst still being different enough from ice hockey to keep the players fresh and interested.
